Flying with a pet might be stressful, but with British Airways pet policy, it can be a positive experience for both you and your beloved pet. As per the British Airways pet policy, pets can travel in the cargo area. Under the British Airways pet policy, pets can travel in the cargo space. BA does not accept the emotional support animals in the cabin class. In-Cabin Pet Travel:

As per the British Airways animal policy, pets are not allowed in cabin class, including emotional support animals. However, British Airways permits service or assistance pets in the cabin class. The service animals can travel with their owners free of charge. Remember that if you bring a service pet, it must be under your control during the flight.

Cargo Hold Pet Travel:

BA allowed pets, including Cats, dogs, hamsters, tropical fish, birds, rabbits, ferrets, monkeys, snakes, cold-blooded animals, fowl, and other animals, in the cargo area. You will be required to submit a health certificate, which should be issued by the licensed vet 10 days before your scheduled departure. You will need to attach the necessary documents with your pet carrier. 

The documents will be based on the country's rules for where you want to go. The pet cargo fee will be based on your arrival destination. Pregnant pets are not eligible to travel in the cargo space. If you wish to travel with your pups, it should be 10 weeks old.

 If you book a domestic flight, you must arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to your scheduled departure. At the same time, you will have to arrive at the airport 4 hours before your scheduled departure.      

Checked Baggage

British Airways is very strict about pets traveling as checked luggage. This airline does not accept any animals as checked baggage on the flight.  

Pet Criteria 

If your pet travels in the cargo area, follow the information below regarding pet criteria. 

  • You must arrange the food and drinks inside the pet carrier. 
  • Your pet must be 10 weeks old. 
  • Pets are allowed in the cargo space. 
  • You cannot reserve seats for pets in cabin class except for assistance animals.
  • Only Cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, rabbits, ferrets, monkeys, snakes, cold-blooded animals, fowl, tropical fish, and other animals are eligible to travel in the cargo area. 
  • If the country or city where you want to go there the temperature is more than 30 degrees, the airline will not accept your pet.   
  • You will have to check in 4 hours before your scheduled departure.  

How to Book an Assistance Dog

As per the British Airways pet policy, you are not eligible to book your assistance dog ticket online. However, you can make assistance pet reservations offline; you will have to contact the British Airways representatives at least 3 days before your scheduled departure. At the airport, available representatives will book your assistance pet ticket. To travel with an assistance dog, you must submit an assistance dog training certificate.    

Travel fee    

British Airways does not apply pet travel fees to service or assistance pets. They are eligible to travel in cabin class free of charge. However, British Airways charges a pet of 2600 to 2800 euros, which depends on your destination and fare type.
