Emirates baggage policy

The baggage policy for Emirates Airlines changes according to the passengers' fare class. There is a weight and piece system for checked baggage which is applicable as per the route you are taking. The weight system applies to all routes except flights to and from destinations in the Americas and travels to or from Africa. On the other hand, the piece concept is put in an application when the flights are to and from places in the Americas and Africa as per Emirates baggage policy.

Frequent flyers will get different and larger allowances compared to others. The passengers with the infant can bring the stroller in the cabin if the size permits and if the size does not permit you can always check your stuff.

Emirates Baggage Policy for Carry-Ons

In the first and business class, you can bring 2 handbags weighing no more than 7 kg each. Now for economy class, the number of pieces gets reduced to 1 handbag (The weight limit is the same for all classes: 7 kg for each bag). 

Exception for Premium economy class passengers who can bring 10 kg of cabin baggage.

According to Emirates baggage policy, Laptop bags and handbags are counter as carry-ons and their dimensions should not exceed 115 cm.

As per the route restrictions under baggage policy for Emirates Airlines, when travelling in India only 1 carry-on is allowed. For the flight leaving from Brazil, only 10kg of cabin baggage is allowed in the cabin. Please refer to the table below for better understanding. Emirates Check-in Baggage Allowance

As per Emirates baggage policy, the baggage allowance depends upon the fare you bought. Emirates check-in baggage allowance indicates the weight limit, number of bags, and the dimensions allowed. Also, Emirates has a weight system and per-piece system for baggage, depending on the trip you are taking. For example, Flights to and from the America and Africa work by per-piece concept.

Weight System:

According to Emirates baggage policy, the weight concept will be applicable for the duration of the booked route if your trip from Australia, New Zealand, or Asia to North or South America includes a segment in Europe or a layover in Dubai that lasts longer than 24 hours. 

The weight notion can be relevant if you are traveling into Africa and will be stopping for longer than 24 hours. The dimensions of the checked bags should be at most 300 cm (L+W+H). Let's take a look at the Emirates baggage policy for different fare classes one by one in the case of the weight system:

Economy class:
  • Economy special class: 20 kg
  • Economy saver class: 25 kg
  • Economy flex: 30 kg
  • Economy Flex Plus or Economy Premium: 35 kg
Business class: 40 kg
First class: 50 kg

Per-Piece Model:

There is a weight limit on each bag that you are allowed to check in as per the Per-piece concept of Emirates baggage policy. One bag should be under the dimensions (length, width + height)  mentioned: 150 cm (59 inches). The Emirates frequent flyer members can enjoy a larger baggage allowance. If your bag exceeds this dimension you will be told to ship your luggage as cargo.   • Special: 1 bag of 23 kg
  • Saver/Flex/Flex Plus: 2 bags (each 23 kg)
