What are Westjet Pets in Cabin Rules?

In the cabin, your pet will stay under the seat in front of you so your pet must be small enough to fit there. As per WestJet animal policy, your pet must be in its carrier during the whole flight and your carrier’s dimensions should not exceed: 41 cm x 25.4 cm x 16" L x 10" W x 8.5" H, or 21.5 cm.

The integration of the pet's weight along with the carrier should be not more than 22 lbs. (10 kg). How should the pet’s carrier be?   • Pet + Carrier = not more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
  • Maximum Carrier size = 40" L x 27" W x 30" H (101 cm L x 68 cm W x 76 cm H)

One carrier can have two pets as long as the pets are of compatible species/same species and per pet is not more than 14kg. You should inform the airline 48 hours before departure that you are traveling with a pet and want to fly it as checked baggage. 

Westjet Cargo Pets

WestJet allows all types of domestic pets in the cargo hold. You can book your pet's reservation for cargo by contacting the WestJet cargo pet team at 1(888) 748-0704. As per WestJet pet policy, your pet must be at least 8 weeks old and should be completely weaned for traveling. Also, different places have different pet rules so please be aware of them before flying with your pet. 

The weight limitation for Westjet cargo pets is 72.5 kg (160 lbs). Two pets can be in one carrier if they are of compatible species and weigh no more than 14 kg each.

  • for travel within or between Canada and the US is $50 to CAD 59/USD
  • Travel between Canada/U.S. and all other destinations outside the U.S. is $100 to CAD 118/USD.
