EVA Airways Pet Policy | Restrictions & Fees

Do you want to travel with your pet? The good news is that EVA Airlines allows pets on the flight. Dogs, cats, and rabbits are allowed to travel on the flight. However, service dogs are eligible to travel in cabin class free of charge if a disabled person carries the trained dog. If your pet travels as checked baggage, its body weight must be more than 50 kg (110 lb). If you are planning to travel with your pet, you will have to inform the airline 48 hours before the scheduled departure. 

EVA Air Pet Policy—In-Cabin Pets

As per the EVA Air pet policy, the airline will not allow pets in cabin class except service dogs. Rabbits, cats, and dogs are not entitled to travel in cabin class. These pets can travel in the cargo space and are considered checked baggage. The airline does not accept pregnant pets or pets older than 4 months in cabin class. You will have to submit a pet reservation request to the airline at least 48 hours before the departure. 

EVA Air Pet Policy - Checked Baggage Pets

As per the EVA Air checked baggage pet policy, if your pet is too large or does not meet the cabin class requirement, the airline will transfer your pet to the cargo section. Only service trainee dogs are eligible to fly in the cabin class. However, cats, dogs, and rabbits are eligible to travel in the cargo section as checked baggage. You can make your pet reservation by calling their official customer care number, and one more thing, you can request a pet reservation up to 48 hours before departure.

  • Pet containers must have proper space and ventilation holes so that pets can sit comfortably in them.

EVA Air Pet Policy—Pets as Air Cargo

If you travel with your pet to (Hong Kong, Australia, or the United Kingdom) the airline will move your pet into the cargo area, except for the service trainee dog. Only simple or emotional pets are allowed on the flight. Restricted animals, like dangerous breeds of dogs, cats, or other wild animals, are not eligible to travel on EVA flights. You must submit the health certificate within 10 days of the scheduled departure date. EVA Airlines staff will go through your pet passport if your flight is international.

Restrictions

Certain restrictions apply to pets. Before making a pet reservation, you should go through the pet restriction rules. Check the following restriction.  

  • Only service dogs are accepted in the cabin class if a disabled person carries pets.  
  • 2 pets are allowed per passenger on the flight. 
  • You can carry two pets in the same cage if the weight of both pets is less than 14 kg.

  • If the interline segments are included in a passenger's itinerary, pets are not allowed in the aircraft.
  • If your flight is operated directly by EVA Airlines, your pet is allowed to board an international flight. 
  • Five pet cages are allowed on the flight, excluding the A321 and B787. Few airlines do not allow pets as checked baggage. 
  • Under the B787 category, pets cannot travel as checked baggage for long-haul flights, such as to North America, Europe, and Oceania.

 If you want to travel with your lovely pet, you will have to follow the procedures for pet reservations. Check what documents are required while making a pet reservation, which is mentioned below.

  • Fill out the "Passenger Declaration for Live Animals" form, which is available on the EVA Airlines website.  
  • Submit a copy of the form at the terminal during pet verification. If you travel with your dog, you are responsible for submitting medical and vaccination reports to the nation's country as per your arrival destination's rules.

EVA Air Pet Travel Fee

If your pet travels with EVA Airlines as a checked bag, your pet and its container will be subject to a pet fee. The pet fee will be deducted from your complimentary checked baggage.  

  • If the pet and its container combined weigh less than or up to 32 kg, the pet fee will apply twice the checked baggage fee. For example, if the check baggage fee is 100 USD, your pet fee will be calculated as (100 USD * 2= 200 USD)  
  • If the pet weighs more than 32 kg and up to 42 kg, the charges will be 4 times the checked baggage fee. For example, if a pet fee is 200 dollars, the fee will be calculated as (200 dollars * 4 = 800 dollars).
  • Charges will apply for 6 times the checked baggage fee if the pet weighs more than 42 kg. For example, if the pet fee is $300, charges will be calculated as ($300 * 6 = 1800 dollars.)
